Including the woman who chooses abortion. Either every person has autonomy, or none do.
Yes, I’m aware. Women AND the unborn fall under the category of all forms of human life… And while a woman’s claim to bodily autonomy is important, it is not absolute and does not supercede her obligation to the child.
For example, should a pregnant mother have the right to take a drug like Thalidomide if it results in a deformed child?
I mean, the only reason these medication are denied to the pregnant mother who may be seeking them is because of the effect on her fetus… Who are we to say that harming an unborn child with something like thalidomide is wrong but killing it with elective abortion is fine?
If the mother’s right to bodily autonomy is absolute, it’s none of our business what she does with the fetus. Yet that’s not what is actually going on.
